The Log Cabin is Done!

We've just finished the last major project on the inside of the cabin--the fireplace and the brick under the stairs. Here's the before picture.

And here is the after:

The same brick look is also under the stairs.
Look forward now to the things we'll be doing outside on our 30 acres.

January Report

We survived the 25 degree freezes with ice in the horse feeding buckets and lots of frost on the ground. In a month or two we'll see how the plants survived.

Since it was too cold to be doing building projects for us Floridians, we did lots of activities with grandkids and helping boys in the ward develop their Eagle Scout proposals. I did get a picture of David at his district wrestling meet where it won 3rd place in his weight division. He might have done better but grandma has been feeding him such great food on Sunday dinners that he was one pound overweight for his usual division so was the lightest wrestler in a far heavier class.

With all this cold weather, we ended the month hunting manatees with the visiting Kannas's. We found hundreds of them at Blue Springs south of town.

January Cabin Final Touches

We're getting close to finishing all the  final touches on the inside of our log cabin. We hope all will be done in February. This month we upgraded the switch plates on the electrical outlets, added some signage...

and replaced burned out light bulbs in the 20 foot high ceiling so the butterfly mobile is more visible. (Don't tell Wendy, our grandparent safety monitor, that I did it myself.)
