The Dutch temple is in Zoetermeer (pronounced zooter mare), which means "sweet lake." It's about a 40 minute train ride from where we live. The name should tell you what used to be here, a lake, until it was drained to build a suburb for Den Haag. You can't tell by the picture, but the road I am standing on to take the picture goes up a hill so it can cross the canal that flows near the temple. In other words, the place where I am standing, and of course the temple itself, would probably be 10 feet underwater if the dike holding back the canal broke. Remember that about one third of the Netherlands lies below sea level in former lake or ocean bottoms that have been drained by the windmills.
They keep the front door to the temple locked. I think most enter from the parking garage under the temple. For us to get in, we had to ring the bell, talk through the intercom, and wait for someone to come unlock the door so we could get in. Caroly is demonstrating the last step.
