Our last stop was St. Stephen's Basilica, named after the first Christian king of Hungary. It was built in his honor at the end of the end of the 19th Century to commemorate the conversion of Hungarians to Christianity 1000 years ago.
This is what the inside of the dome looks like.
We got to hear an impromptu concert while we were there. Later when we listened to the recording, we realized that this hymn was in English. Listen carefully and see if you can understand the words.
In another chapel in the back you can see St. Stephen's 1000 year old hand.
We decided to get a breath of fresh air after that and climbed the 302 steps up to the viewing platform around the base of the main dome. This is the view towards castle hill across the Danube.
