Finishing Touches

We are now at the stage where we can do the finishing touches, one room at a time. It is mostly trim. You can see grandma and grandpa's carpenter shop set up on the front porch where grandma varnishes the boards and grandpa cuts them up to fit where they need to go.
Friday the electrician finished the string lights in the beams and installed the fans in the great room and the loft. Isn't the lighting spectacular?
The first room we have completed, top to bottom, is the half bath downstairs by the kitchen.

If you build it...

You know the saying..."if you build it, they will come." So in March we had 35 of our descendents come to check out the log cabin.
They played with the dogs...
helped grandma feed the cows and horses...
went boating and to the beach...
drove cars, 4-wheelers, and golf carts...
rode horses...
visited historic sites...
built things...
hunted for animals and bugs living or dead...
hung out...
and broke in the new fire pit by eating grandpa's Hungarian style hot dogs wrapped in bacon, German hamburgers, and Brazilian steak all cooked over an open fire.

Cabin update for March

Chrissy, Debbie, Robert and families came to help out with cabin building laying floors, putting up shelves, installing lights and fans, building a fire pit, and planting gardens while grandpa and his hired worker from Mexico did the beams and framing for the windows in the great room and loft. Take a look.
