Day 24

The outside still looks the same...
but inside they have put on the braces under the second floor...
and installed our temporary stairs!!! Notice the landing that we can use as a stage for grandchildren productions.

Day 23

It looks the same from the outside...
But inside the ceiling rafters are done on the second floor and the hurricane straps are nailed in so the second floor won't blow away in a big storm.
Grandma got so excited that the cabin will soon be done that she jumped on a horse to look for new animals for our pastures. How do you like what she found? I told her to wait until the place is completed.

Day 22

You'll notice that since we have fed the workers, we could take down the tree celebrating putting up the highest beam. Today they worked on completing the dormers over the library/study and the media room/bedroom. Here you can see the work both inside and out.
They also put up the beam for the cathedral ceiling in the loft.
Here's a sample sunset viewed from my library/study.

Day 21

The front looks the same but the back now has the dormers for my office and the media room/bedroom.

Day 20

Today they put up the main beam of the house. Of course, you know what that means. It is time to top off the house with a Christmas tree!! Notice the catwalk they made for hoisting the beam.
Caroly kept herself busy planting her vertical garden with the gardening tools that Kim gave her for Christmas a year ago when we still lived in Gainesville.

Day 19

Today they started work on the rafters and have about one third done. It's the upstairs for the guest bedroom and my studio/library.

Seminary graduation

As you know, I am the seminary teacher for the Bunnell Ward high school students. Here are the three who graduated from my class this year. Do you recognize any one?

Day 18

To make up for the lost days due to the rain, they worked on Saturday. Isn't this getting exciting? They have framed in the shed dormer and the two sides.
Here is the view from downstairs in the great room of the windows for the loft, the upstairs bath, and one of the bedrooms.
It's a bit scary climbing to the loft but the view is worth it. Here we are looking out the upstairs windows towards the east and checking out the view to the west towards our "mountain" in the distance before they frame in the upper windows for the great room.
We're supposed to have great weather all next week so maybe the framing for the roof will be up by next Friday!
