Sending them off to America

When the Bleaks, Moffats, McLeans, Powells, Buckleys, Lallatins, Andersons, Olsons, and anyone else of your ancestors in Europe decided to come to America after 1850, they went through Liverpool England and Albert Dock. Of course they had to get there first. Some probably came by carriage or ship, but most came by the trains that were starting to crisscross England.

There they joined the other thousands waiting to board ships. Over 9 million went to America through Albert Dock.

First you would pass through this gate...

pass the pumphouse...

and wait for your turn to board the ship.

Here comes ours now!

We cruise around the docks a bit. (The warehouses have been converted to luxury apartments, museums, and restaurants, but they looked new like this when your ancestors passed through.)

While we wait for the tide to come in so our ship can sail...

we note that Queen Victoria...

and the Beatles have come to the harbour to wish us a bon voyage.
